Welcome Bags: A Thoughtful Touch
Your wedding is in Southern California. Your dads family is driving down from Northern California and your moms family is flying in from the east coast. You went to college out of state and now have college friends spread around the country. And you might even have some extended family worldwide. Sound familiar?
In todays day in age, its quite common to have guests travel near and far for your wedding. You should ensure that they receive a warm welcome and proper recognition for traveling such distances. This is accomplished with a "Welcome Bag." The purpose of a welcome bag is to greet your guests on arrival and say thank you for the efforts theyve made in order to share your special day.
Some Important Particulars:
It's essential to know where your out-of-town guests are staying. Ideally, youve made arrangements for group rates at a local hotel near the ceremony or reception site. Talk to the hotel(s) about the distribution of your welcome bags. Most likely, they will hand them to your guest at check-in or even deliver them to the guests room for a small fee. Youll want to make sure the welcome bags are delivered to the hotel before your guests are scheduled to check-in. Its important to have each bag properly labeled with the group name, the guest name, and arrival date.
Example:
Jones / Martinez Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schmidt
Arrival: November 21, 2008
